There is new hope for millions of women who suffer in silence…

Mature woman worriedVaginal Atrophy, sometimes called atrophic vaginitis (AV), is a common condition affecting tens of millions of women in the U.S. The symptoms include chronic vaginal dryness, painful vaginal burning, vaginal irritation, urinary urgency and urinary frequency. Also, sexual intercourse can be painful and for some women it is unbearable. Women with these symptoms often “suffer in silence.” Despite their pain during sex, they put up with it, not wanting to disappoint their partners. But this does not have to be the case! Please read about our new laser treatment. There is new hope for you, so that one day you will again be able to enjoy sex with the partner you love.

Vaginal atrophy is caused by low estrogen levels that lead to a thinning and drying out of the mucous membrane lining of the vagina. The most common cause of low estrogen levels is menopause. Another cause of loss of estrogen is chemotherapy which can trigger premature menopause. Breast cancer survivors can experience severe vaginal atrophy for a few reasons: they have usually gone through chemo, afterwards they cannot use any estrogen, and their treatment may include medication that blocks the tiny amount of estrogen naturally produced (after menopause a small amount of estrogen is produced by the body).

Even when using bio-identical hormones (including pellets), these symptoms can persist. The hormones enter the bloodstream but there is not much blood circulation to the vaginal tissues when vaginal atrophy is present. With bio-identical hormone therapy using pellets, there will be a huge improvement for you with elimination of hot flashes and night sweats, better mood and more energy, and return of your sex drive, but there might still be vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. Now there is new hope and a new laser-based treatment for this problem — and there are no hormones involved.

The ValayzaTM Procedure

The ValayzaTM Procedure is a new vaginal laser treatment for vaginal atrophy and painful sexual intercourse. This brief and nearly painless procedure requires just three sessions, spaced about six weeks apart. This is the only laser currently FDA approved in the U.S. for vaginal use. Due to the thermal energy applied to the vaginal tissues, the body responds with a new growth of collagen and elastin in the vaginal walls, causing the vaginal lining to become thicker, similar to the lining seen when estrogen is present. For years, we have known that laser treatments of the face can “turn back the clock” and now we can use the same technology vaginally. Fair Oaks Women’s Health has acquired the MonaLisa Touch laser, which is the laser we use for ValayzaTM .

For a limited time we are providing a free consultation and exam with Dr. Bryan Jick, a Board-Certified Ob/Gyn physician with over 25 years experience. We have a 24-hour message line.  Out-of-town patients can be accommodated as well.
